Washington, DC, United States (4E) - The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisory from parts of the Texas Panhandle through the Ohio Valley and into the Great Lakes region for Saturday.
Also effected are Mid-Atlantic states and much of the Northeast, the latter which could see temperatures rise into the 100's.
When heat and humidity are expected to combine to make it feel like 105 degrees or more an Excessive Heat Warning is issued.
Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York and Boston are all expected to hit the 100-degree mark, with New York City and Baltimore getting a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert that could be in effect through Sunday.
The high heat is taking its toll on travel, as a section of road buckled in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and two roads had cracking issues in Wichita, Kansas.
Cooler, drier air is expected in many areas Monday, with North Carolina dropping 15 degrees to the low 80's by Tuesday.
